Livingstone national Park, NSW - Dec 2008

Livingstone National Park is only about 30 km south of Wagga Wagga (where I live) so in the scheme of things isn't a "big" trip for me but sometimes when work just gets too much for me and I want to unwind then Livingstone fits the bill.

It has a variety of 4x4 trails all in the easy to medium range and each track has its own vegetation and array of planst and animals.

I have seen Goannas, Wallabies, Roos, snakes and Echidnas in the park so I am always ready to stop the car and do my 'Steve Irwin' "Crickey' thing when I see any movement in the bush. Here are a few of the pics I have taken in recent trips

Hope you like them

Oh - I am planning on going to Cape York in 2009 so 'watch this space'

If I an 'out and about' you can track me here. If you go to webpage and get a strange 'error' message it will be because I do not have the unit activated.

Just try again later

Last post before leaving - CSR 12th July 2008

Well, here I am, only 6 days away from starting my CSR 2008 trip that I have been planning for now for almost 12 months.

I have had the truck serviced and had a 'pre-trip' inspection - all good.

I have purchased all the food and supplies I will need for a month on the road, mostly in remote desert areas without the luxury of supermarkets or service stations.

All that remains to do is load the cryovac'd frozen meals into the Engle freezer and the non frozen into the Waeco Fridge on Saturday morning and then it will be time for me to sing my favourite Willy Nelson song 'On the road again' :-)

Please track mey progress by clicking on the 'Track Me - CSR 2008' link that you can see on the right hand side of this blog

If you want to contact me then use one of the MANY options that I have listed below in a previous post.

One last request - if you want to send me an e-mail please do BUT no attachments please (and if you have mein a group mailing list I suggest you remove me in case you send an attachment to the group)

The reason I ask you to do this is the mobile brooadband I am using will take toooooooooo looooong :-)

Ok - this will be my last post until I get back - so I will wish you all well and hope to be able to post some good stories and photos when I return in August

CANNING STOCK ROUTE - 12th July 2008

I am well into the planning for my 12th July - 11th August 2008 CSR adventure. I have read 100's of websites from so many different sources about the CSR that I feel as though I have already driven it :-))

This website has an excellent interactive map of the CSR http://www.exploroz.com/TrekNotes/WDeserts/Canning_Stock_Route.aspx

The total trip Wagga to Wagga will be about 9000 kms in 1 month with about 2000 kms being the CSR

I have done an excel spreadsheet (which I am pretty damn proud of actually :-)) which I am using to calculate kms between campsites, kms travelled, average speed required to complete te trip on time, anticipated $$$$ spent on fuel (currently looking like $2,500 JUST on fuel!!! - YIKES)

I will post more as I get closer to the day - keep tuned :-)

Bendethera Update

Well the trip that Peter (my Sydney mate) and I did to Bendethera was excellent.

A long drive on Friday night through bush tracks in the rain and the fog was pretty interesting and included trees blocking the road and water crossings at night!!

We had an incredible time and I will certainy be back there for more

Here are a few pics I took - I hope you enjoy them

This is the set up while camping (really roughing it eh!:-)

We drove down to Braidwood on Friday night but it was late when we finally left the hardtop and hit the dirt road. We ended up driving through light rain and fog to our campsite.

We had a few 'visitors'
